The tumbling creates a natural aged look product however some properties have a very dark appearance where the walling is black faced this is owing to the walling stone having collected carbon deposits from the industrial mills and road traffic and is black with patches of original sandy colour where weathered. This black faced walling stone can be re-produced by dyeing the stone with black spray paint to copy the effect.
