Quoins

Quoins date back to Roman times so they have been around for quite a while but the word quoin is derived from the French word “corner”. Quoins are masonry blocks that are found on the external corners of stone or brick buildings. In the past, due too building methods quoins were used to provide structural strength for a wall that was built with inferior stone or rubble nowadays, however, with modern building methods they are used more for aesthetic purposes to add detail and accentuate the corners of a building. Used in this way the quoins almost frame a building especially if they are used in conjunction with brickwork as the colour and size of the stone normally provide a feature that contrasts with the brickwork and ensures it stands out.

Quoins are usually large square or rectangular blocks of stone which we can cut to any size to meet the requirements of the project for which you are procuring them.
